Just breathe

So much has been going on the last few weeks with Union stuff. I was not elected to the position I was running for. As several people have told me, including my wonderful husband – a lot of people can jump into political and union positions – but not everyone can do the type of nursing I do and that my patients & co-workers are better with me beside them. I am happy with that. I am content with that and loving my job as much as ever.

The other night, one patient told me I had the voice of an angel and asked me to sing her a lullaby – I searched my brain for something to sing and came up with “Hush Little Baby”. The other nurses in the room sang with me, The patient then said she could sleep better now. It made my heart smile that something so simple & easy could let someone rest.

With all the hustle and bustle that is quickly descending upon us, we must remember to take a step back, remember what is truly important to us as we head into December and remember to B R E A T H E.  Slowly in with the good and out with the anxiety of the day. Breathe – take a few minutes, at night listen to yourself before you drift off, thinking of all the good that happened in the day, remembering those you met for how ever long and that you left them with a bit of yourself. Smile, breathe and be happy as we head into December, when many of us celebrate the birth of Jesus Chist.
