Never gone

Today is my Grandma’s birthday. Happy Birthday Grandma. She would have been 99 today but alas she left us far too early in April 2000. Even after all this time, I still miss her SO much. She (and my Grandpa) were a big part of my growing up and shaping me to who I am today. I talk with her often, I know she hears me and listens, guiding me in what I am speaking to her about.

I always wanted to make her proud and I think I have done that – with my family and children, my work, my beliefs and how I treat people. She always had time for me and I hope as a Grandma I will do the same. She supported me when I felt alone in the world – those terrible teen years when you struggle so much, trying to find out who you are. She was always there for me – accepting me for me.

I miss you Grandma and thank you for the unconditional love that you continue to bring into my life. I know you would love spending time with your great Grandchildren and now a great great Grandson. The kids still talk about how you would have loonies for them when ever they came to visit.

I only hope I can measure up to you, the Grandma who I will try to be.

Peace & blessings

What children need most are the essentials that grandparents provide in abundance.  They give unconditional love, kindness, patience, humor, comfort, lessons in life.  And, most importantly, cookies.  ~Rudolph Giuliani
