Seasons change

The days are becoming shorter – the evenings are cooler, the mornings are darker – fall is in the air. I like the season of fall with those cool crisp afternoons, the smell of leaves burning, the trees with their leaves changing colour.

September is always the time of the Port Alberni Toy Run. Motorcyclists gather and ride in procession into Port Alberni, bringing toys to those children less fortunate. In the past years $50-60,000 has been raised for the children in PA – what an accomplishment. Each year when I participate in this ride – I cry. In front of you, there are bikes, in your side mirrors behind you are bikes, and along the ride route, there are people waving, cheering, children smiling – it is a very amazing experience. The official count was 873 bikes. You have every make & model, every type of rider from new to old, dirt bike & street bikes, chopped bikes & cruisers – all uniting for the cause of children – it is a wonderful thing and I encourage you to participate in at least one toy run – be it locally or away – you won’t be sorry.

We also celebrate family birthdays in September. A time when we can gather together and celebrate with each other.  We look back over the summer with smiles. We remember a week of camping with lots of laughter and fun boat time. We have had a couple of get-togethers over the summer with friends enjoying the pool & the great company. A busy summer once the weather kicked into to summer-mode in August.

And now, the season changes – the pool will be closed, we will get a few more times out on the new to us boat before storing it for the winter. We will get a load of wood in for the colder evenings when we get the wood-stove going, making the indoor air cozy & dry. We will settle into our “indoor” routine as we enjoy fall. We will run away the end of October for a Western Caribbean cruise  where we will be blanketed in warmth and sunshine. We will return to the cold of November and preparing for Christmas.

Be safe, enjoy & be kind to one and other.

Peace & blessings always
