Here it is February. A year ago, I under went a LAVH. Laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy (LAVH) is a surgical procedure using a laparoscope to guide the removal of the uterus and/or Fallopian tubes and/or ovaries through the vagina (birth canal). I opted for keeping my ovaries and going through “The change” naturally. I want to get the most benefit I can from those hormones running around my body. I am SO happy to have done this procedure. While I was having some reservations like worrying I wouldn’t be as womanly anymore or I would not longer enjoy intimacy, my concerns were quickly laid to rest. My recovery has gone very well.
The down side is, my goals of weight loss did not materialize over the past year. I am within a couple of pounds of what I was pre-op last year. So I am back working on this goal. With being 50 this summer, my health risks increase just due to my age. I want to be healthy, able to play with the grandchildren, enjoy hiking & camping at the lake, able to be active & not out of breath! I want to do this for ME – I deserve to be healthy and I am the only one who can do it – me and me alone. I would love to do one of those reveals come July – a new fit me 🙂 While I can’t promise THAT will happen, I do make a promise to myself with eating better & smaller portions, increasing my fruit & veggies and giving myself 30 minutes a day to be physically active.
Other happenings – on a sad note, a friend of mine miscarried recently. They were approaching the 3 month mark but it was not meant to be this time. My heart broke for her & her hubby. They will be wonderful parents some day but just not now. We all experience loss. We all deal with loss in different ways. I really felt their loss & send them my unconditional love & support as together they move forward.
It is nice to see the days getting longer again & the dark of evening being pushed back every so gradually. I can not wait for the return of the evenings when we can sit out & enjoy listening to the music in the park from our deck. Summer is one of my favourite season. I enjoy spring with the new growth and all the fabulous shades of green. Who knew a colour could be so diverse?
With the wedding of our middle daughter, my 50th birthday, our 30th wedding anniversary and the VTX Rally – we have a busy summer. I want to be strong & fit to enjoy all that this summer will bring. I want to be successful. I want to knock heart and stroke disease to the ground. As a nurse, I always talk about being pro-active in our own health, well now I need to put that plan into action. I want to be around for many many years to come!
Wishing you peace & blessings. Until next time
